Osgood award winner to be celebrated at Chelsea vs Burnley game

At today’s game Premier League match at Stamford Bridge, the 2026 Peter Osgood Award winner, Sam Sainsbury, will be presented with the honour by Lynn Osgood ahead of kick-off.

The Peter Osgood Award, established in 2016, recognises a Chelsea Foundation staff member who embodies the commitment, dedication and spirit synonymous with the legendary Blues striker, Peter Osgood. This year’s recipient is a truly deserving winner.

In his role as adapted sports project officer at Chelsea Foundation, Sam consistently goes the extra mile. Across his weekly sessions made possible by the Premier League and Professional Footballers’ Association Players’ Fund, he demonstrates exceptional professionalism, care and attention to detail, ensuring every participant feels included, welcomed and valued as part of the team. His commitment to creating safe, engaging and supportive environments has had a profound and lasting impact on those he works with.

Sam’s drive has also led to the creation of multiple new sessions specifically designed for hard-to-reach groups, extending the Foundation’s reach and deepening its community impact. Warm, welcoming and genuinely kind, he is hugely respected by colleagues and participants alike. The consistently positive feedback his sessions receive is testament to the high-quality experience he delivers.
